B's big girl hair cut

If you would have asked me a year ago if I would ever cut my girls' hair you would have gotten a big fat no way!!!  I am a long hair down to your little heiney kind of girl through and through.  Brynn's hair had taken five whole years to get down to her waist! And while I loved it, it only looked pretty when it was braided and in a true hair style every single day.  It was super thin, would tangle minutes after being brushed and she still had so much new hair growth coming in.

I had mentioned cutting it about a year prior and my mom suggested we let her go through summer and see if it thickened up.  Well, it didn't and then I was faced with do I have the actual guts to cut it? Now, she on the other hand had been wanting a little bob since her little friends in preschool had one. So, I eventually braved up and made the appointment and she could not have been more excited!

Before we left we took about one million 'ode to little baby hairs" pictures in front of the garage and then took off to the salon.  I may have let out quite a few squeals and shrieks! But we did it!

we cut 8 inches off so we can donate it :)

And ya'll just when I thought she couldn't possibly be any cuter!

She did it! ....and I am so obsessed with this little cut on her.  and so is she!  She brushed it and blow dried it every single day for a solid two weeks after every swim and shower.  I even caught her telling her little sister in the middle of a tiff "You're just jealous of my short hair!" Oh boy!

Gulf Shores Summer Trip

This trip was meant to be a little relaxing and a little wedding planning for Stephanie.  We are on the wedding countdown - with less than two months to go til she and my brother get married. So, she had quite a few appointments and loose ends to tie up and I happily tagged along.  Also, just two days before we were supposed to leave for grandma "Honey" fell and broke her pelvis and ended up in the hospital. So, while that was bad timing, we were happy to be able to be there to bring her some love, entertainment and helping hands for my grandfather.

Brynn has such a special way with her and it melts my heart.  Her caring heart and kind ways make me so proud to be her mom.

Things are getting harder and harder and a lot sad with Honey's Alzheimers progressing, and my grandfather being her only care taker.  They don't have any family close by and he does not want to leave his house.  So, Im not sure where that will take us all in the future, but we have a lot to figure out...sooner rather than later.  It's really hard watching her turn into someone else, but she still gives  us many glimpses of her super witty and sassy sense of humor and instantly its like she is back with us.  These trips are becoming even more important now and I want my children to have as many memories as possible with them.

On a happier note, we were able to get some kite flying, sand digger hunting, hammock laying, hermit crab catching and many glorious sunsets with the ones we love most!

After a full week of family time together well spent we were heading back home to celebrate a certain little blondie's THIRD birthday!

Fourth of July

Playing a little catch up on the ol' blog.
Fourth of July was a little different this year!  We normally have the tradition of spending it at the beach house, but this year we stayed home.  We were headed to the beach a few weeks later for some wedding planning for my brother, so we stayed home this fourth.

It definitely did not have the same feel, but we made the best out of it and actually ended up having a really nice day.  I don't do well with case you haven't picked up on that yet.  But I rolled with it and brought out all the festive stops for my two little bits.

We started the day the same way we start it every year with our flag cake! And as per usual there may have been more eating than making.

Around lunch time my family came out to swim and grill out.

Then we spent the afternoon resting up for our neighborhood block party.  The girls showed up in style with their patriotically decked out car!

We didn't let the rain spoil our fun.  We did sparklers under the over hang and on the porch with my brother and his fiancĂ©.  As in years past Jolie was still all about it and Brynn was still terrified.

Finally around nine the weather cleared up and my neighbor put on quite the firework show for us!

Brynn turns FIVE!

Brynn is FIVE!

Ya'll it doesn't seem possible.
She just turned four!  I still remember taking her picture in her little red tutu with her big number four balloon.  That was just yesterday, I swear!  Five is officially big girl hood and I can't quite wrap my head around it.  I remember teaching kindergarten and being pregnant with Brynn.  That stage of childhood seemed so far away, but alas here we are.  But you know what, I love this age.  It's amazing and it makes me a little bit more ok with her growing up.

I asked Brynn a few months back if she would rather have a birthday party with friends, or go to Disney with the family (my mom & Steve's dad came with us).  & she chose Disney.  We went for three days, one hotel day, one day in Magic Kingdom and another hotel day.  I let Brynn choose what she wanted to wear and she was insistent on wearing a princess dress and it had to be Snow White.  The Snow White love runs strong with this girl.  Jolie chose Rapunzel and together they were the two cutest little princess sisters.

The girls had a blast riding all the rides and taking it all in.  We of course met the princesses again, Brynn was so in love like she has always been, gazing and hugging with all her might...and Jolie was in absolute awww covering her mouth in amazement...and shy as ever.  The highlight of the day was Snow White coming over to Brynn during the parade and tell her Happy Birthday and blowing her a kiss.  Brynn couldn't believe it and it totally made her birthday.

That night we came back to the hotel and had pizza and princess cake for the Birthday princess.  It was the perfect day!

The hotel we stayed at was amazing!  I cannot say enough great things about it, and probably could have stayed there for another two more days.  They had so much to do for the kids and so many activities planned for them.  They enjoyed playing in the pirate pool, going down the water slide one million times, holding alligators, indulging in ice cream sundaes and frozen drinks by the pool.  They basically lived their best lives for three days.

It was a great vacation with many memories made.  Cannot believe my sweet baby is the big FIVE!
