Beauty and the Beast

Brynn is princess obsessed and months ago when we saw the preview for Beauty and the Beast we were SO excited.  We have been counting down for it to come out, even daddy.  This is his favorite princess movie ;)

Brynn has only been to the movie theatre like three times in her little life, so its still a pretty big deal to her and she couldn't wait...telling anyone who would listen that she was going to see Belle at the big theatre.

I tried to make the day special and bought her this Belle night gown for the night before.  I had it laying on the couch for after her bath and she was soooo happy when she saw it.

The next day I had her close her eyes and brought out a new Belle dress I bought special for her to wear that day to the movies.  Her expression was priceless.  She put both hands over her mouth and gasped, followed by jumping up and down shouting I love it, I love it! and giving her daddy and I hugs.  Gosh, I love how the little things make her so over the top happy.

She looked so adorable all dressed up.

We got her a popcorn and blue icee and she was set to go.

The movie was over two hours long and I was proud that her little three year old self was able to sit through the whole thing.  The beast scared her a little bit and she told everyone who asked her about the movie "I loved it, but the beast was scary!" :)

The movie was amazing! & it turned out to be such a special memory for the three of us.

This past weekend our sweet baby girls got baptized.  We finally found our church home this past summer, and it feels so good.  Prior to this church and babies..Steve and I went to a huge Christian church that we loved, but weren't a part of and felt like we just blended in with the crowd.  I always knew once we had kids that I desired a small, homey church.  One where everyone knows everyone and my kids by name and loved them.  It took me awhile to decide to step out and to be brave enough to let someone else watch my children, but I knew we needed church in our lives again.  I remembered a teacher that I used to work with and that her husband was a pastor at a local church and her telling me that the nursery workers were awesome.  I decided to take a leap of faith and one Sunday we went. When I nervously went to drop my girls off the teacher ended up being another teacher and friend that I used to work with, and I knew that was a sign from God.  We have been there ever since and I could not be happier.

After a few months of going to church we became members, and shortly after that we decided to have the girls baptized.  Growing up Baptist that is not something that we did to babies or that I was used to, but I loved the idea of baptizing your children and vowing that you are going to raise them to know Jesus and then, later on when they are older and decide they want to be saved they are baptized again.  I even more loved that my girls could do this together and this would be a sweet memory for my sister girls and our family forever.

Of course, I meticulously chose every detail of their outfits from bows, to dress, to socks to shoes for this special day.  I also got the girls these beautiful cross bracelets to wear on their special day, then I will save them and give them to them on their wedding day as their something old to wear wrapped around the stems of their bouquets.

During the baptism Brynn was so quiet and well behaved...and I think a tad bit nervous.  All week she kept saying that her bap-tiiiiz-ism was coming and she was very excited.  During the ceremony she stood so still and her little hands clutched the sides of her dress the entire time.  Jolie on the other hand gave that church a show...and showed her true colors.  She started out being held by Steve and quickly wanted down.  To let everyone know that ..she was squealing and flailing all over.  Steve even joked that this was looking more like an exorcism than a baptism.  Once down she was walking all over the stage.  Steve would try to pick her back up and she would scream on the top of her lungs.  Luckily she is so darn cute and everyone just got a good laugh from her.  Brynn stood so still for her part, and Jolie watched on curious as ever as Brynn got the water put on her head.  And in true sister form, whatever sissy gets, the other one wants so, Jolie waited eagerly for her turn and stood so still for her own turn.  & that in itself was a miracle haha!

My parents, brother and girlfriend, Steve's dad and our dear friend Gena all came to watch.  They all joined us at our house afterwards for a small brunch and cake.  It was such a special day and a memory that I will hold close to my heart forever.

Gulf Shores

We took off the day after Steve's birthday to our favorite place, Gulf Shores.  We always can't wait to get back.  We went back in October, but the girls hadn't been since July.  Brynn was so excited to see her Honey and Pops and to see "their" ocean.

As usual the drive was super brutal.  Thank God for my mom coming with us and helping me out.  we take turns in the back seat with the kids, 5 hours each which makes the ten hours a tad bit more bearable. On the times my mom doesn't come with us I am definitely losing my sanity major!

It was still chilly in Gulf Shores...highs only in the upper 60's low 70's for an hour or two.  We still managed to get in lots of beach time..just not in bathing suits.  The girls didn't seem to mind and had a blast digging and collecting shells.  Seeing Jolie's excitement and involvement makes me so excited for this summer!  Last summer she was just a baby hanging out under the umbrella with me.

We also got in some much needed time with the girls great grandparents which we always treasure.  Honey's 79th birthday is this coming Friday so we surprised her with a cake after dinner our last night there.  She was so surprised and even started crying.

It was sad to leave!  Its always hard to leave but it always makes it better knowing we will be back soon.  We invited my two best friends and their husbands and kids to come with us next time to the beach house for Memorial Day and I am so excited I can't hardly stand it!

Holy hubby is 40!
That still does not seem real!
I still remember when I first met Steve he was 31 and at the time I was 23...I remember thinking wow he is soooo old! haha. Fast forward a couple of years and now I am a year older than he was when I thought he was old!  Time flies!

We pretty much keep our birthdays low key around here when it comes to us two.  40 is a big deal and it definitely would have been nice to go all out and fly somewhere just the two of us..but thats just out of the question these days.  The girls woke up and made him a big birthday banner and hung it up on the wall for when he woke up in the morning.  We also cooked him up a special birthday breakfast.  The day was spent pretty busy preparing for our trip the following day to the beach house.  The birthday boy requested brownies instead of cake and Brynn helped me make those in the afternoon with lots of sprinkles and big 4-0 candle on top!

Whenever it is someone birthday Brynn can hardly contain her excitement.  She wants you to open your presents right away and blow out your candles so its cake eating time!  This day was no different and sooo we opened presents and ate cake at 2:00 in the afternoon.

We normally eat together but this night we decided to put the girls down early and we grilled some hamburgers and ate alone in peace and quiet!  Steve polished off his brownies and we ended the night renting a movie on demand.

I taught Brynn how to say "lordy lordy, my daddy's 40!" and its all she sang and continues to sing.  It's pretty funny!

We definitely love this daddy of ours and all he does for us.  He works so hard for me to be able to stay home with the girls.  He is always willing to go without and sacrifice so that we can make that possible.  He is so close with God and is such a good spiritual leader for our household and model for our girls.  He is the best dad ever, always up for anything.  There is nothing that he doesn't do!  He helps clean, cook..builds all the crazy things and projects I throw at him.  Takes both girls out to run errands without me asking just so I can have a breather.  He is pretty much the best and deserves to be celebrated everyday.  Happy birthday Steve!
