Gulf Shores (Part 3)

After Fourth of July it marked baby shower time!  My dear cousin Heather is having her first baby Sept. 5th and we could not be more excited.  He will be the second little baby addition to our family.  I get so excited thinking about a family full of babies and cousins playing and making memories.

This shower had been planned since Christmas when we found out she was expecting.  The theme "Ahoy it's a boy!" was decided months ago and for about the last two months after Brynn went to bed I worked tediously on it.  It came together, just perfect, and it was a wonderful day celebrating Heather and our sweet baby Adrian.

July 6th was our last day. Wah.  & we spent it where else...on the beach.

I just can't get enough of this little toosh!
Looking through the pictures now, I never knew this moment was caught on camera.  But the little girl walking away with her float was there with her sisters.  They were running up and down the beach all day and Brynn would pick up her shovel and trot off behind them trying to catch up, just wanting to play.  This moment really struck a chord with Steve and made him sad for our little Brynnie.  It was the first time since Brynn was born that Steve has brought up that it may be time soon to have a little sister or brother.
But in the meantime, its all about Brynn and she got over that real quick! haha

We spent majority of the day building castles and watching Brynn destroy them in .25 seconds.

Look! Mommy WAS on this vacation!  I hate that I am behind the camera so much.

Love this picture of Granmama snuggling her little baby!

It took the whole week, but Brynn was finally down with ocean.

& just like that the sun set on our summer 2014 Vacation.  Fantastic memories made that will last us a lifetime.  We left with full bellies and full hearts.

Gulf Shores (Part 2)

Around day three Brynn finally started sleeping in to her regular 8:30 and all was well in the world again.  We took advantage of lazy vacation mode and stayed in jammies and drank coffee every morning all the way until morning nap time

Once Brynn went down for her morning nap we would finally get dressed and pack up for the day to head to the beach.  This was pretty much the routine.

By day three we had a professional digger on our hands.  She would just plop right down and immediately go to town.

This was also the day of the "hole" aka baby jail.

Eventualy the hole got ginormous and even became part swimming pool.

Eventually all this crazy hole business made this little babe hot and she just needed to take a rest and munch some ice in her chair.

We also celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary.  Since our wedding was here, it is just another reason that we love this place and week so much.  Every year we celebrate by going to the same restaraunt on the water where we indulge in many cocktails and fried shrimp the size of your palm ya'll. real talk.

By Friday it was time to celebrate the Fourth of July.  Also known as one of my most favorite holidays!

We have the same delicious dinner of BBQ ribs every year.

Brynn got some ice cream from her Honey for dessert.  She could not get enough and would even open her mouth and squint her eyes shut real hard when she would get a brain freeze.  It was hysterical.

After dinner we put Brynn down to bed and headed down to the beach to watch the fireworks.  I had really considered bringing her, but at an hour past her bed time already, she was rubbing her eyes and starting to get whiney.  I really didn't think she could make it til' 9' oclock and decided it was best she skip it this year.  Maybe next year.

Anywho, they have the best firework show here.  They shoot them off a barge in the middle of the ocean.  The weather was so great...and somehow managed to be so cool and fall like.  It was amazing.

This was also Troy and Steph's last night at the beach house.  They had a wedding to head to the next day.  We absolutely loved having the two of them there with us this year.  It was another great fourth for the books!

Gulf Shores 2014 (part one)

We are just coming off a vaction high around here.  It's always so bittersweet returning home from vacation, sad to leave and good to be home.  We just spent the last week at my grandparents beach house in Gulf Shores, Alabama.  We go every Fourth of July week and it is our total happy place.  I grew up going there every weekend, and now it's so lovely going with my own family.   Nothing is better than spending a week at the beach surrounded by family.  Seriously. The. Best.

We were there for seven days and I have serious picture, I am going to break this up in three parts.

Our first day, we met up with my cousin Heather and her husband Burton for lunch on the water.  We always have to get a fried shrimp po'boy as soon as we get there.  We probably eat our weight in seafood during this week.  No shame in our game.

Afterwards we headed straight for the beach and set up camp.  The beach is private so its really nice to just set up your tent and chairs and be able to leave everything for the whole week.  Now, we have taken Brynn to the beach many of times, but this time was totally different.  I do not know if it is the month that has passed since we went last, or the fact that this sand feels just like baby powder...but Brynn immediately sat down and started playing with her sand toys for the first time ever.  She has never showed any interest what so ever, but this time she was totally into the whole digging thing.  And for the first time in a year I was able to acutally sit in my beach chair and tan.  Can I get an amen?

And would you believe for the first time since she was a newborn this litte lady fell fast asleep in my arms, on the beach, wind blowing in her little locks.  & I found myself in absolute heaven.

Every evening after dinner we all sit around on the back deck with drinks in hand and watch the most beautiful sunsets you have ever seen.  Never gets old.

Was so happy to have my brother and his girlfriend Stephanie with us for the first time.
So beautiful.

The following day was filled with more beach time, more digging, more suntanning....and just you know, vacationing it up.

This little nugget didn't get the time change memo and decided to wake up at 6.  Or maybe she was just excited.  Either way...way to early for mama.

After our morning nap we were beach bummin it for the day.

This picture just gets me every time.  I have so many memories of the exact same thing.  Running around downstairs after the beach in my towel.  Total happiness.

Brynn ate her dinner and went to bed by 7 every night.  Stayed on her little schedule which gave us some adult relaxtion time each night.  She really enjoyed all her attention from her Honey all week.

& a little sunset back porch action with her Pops.  She is one loved little girl.
