27 weeks

Today is: January 31, 2013

How far along: 27 weeks. 7 months!

Total weight gain: 14 lbs

Baby is the size of: the size of a head of cauliflower, 14 1/2 inches long, 2 1/2 pounds.

What's going on with the babe: She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on.

What's going on with the mama: Feeling like a whale!

Baby is a: Girl

Maternity clothing: Not really...just because I have been to lazy to buy any..not because I don't need it! Living in leggings these days.

Sleep: The usual, up several times a night for bathroom visits.

Movement: Big big movements!

Food cravings/aversions: Ive been an animal around fresh fruit and guacamole!

Symptoms:
-frequent urination
-starting to see some ankle swelling by the end of the day

The best moment(s) of this past week:
- Getting to see our little nugget in 3D
- Finding out that she looks just like her mama :)
- Having the OB tell me that my belly looks small and I am measuring perfectly, when I feel like a whale.

I'm looking forward to:
- moving!!
- starting the nursery :)

Well, weeks 24-27 have gone by just as fast as the others.  I am starting to feel quite huge these days.  My belly has definitely changed in the past two weeks.  Sticking out a lot farther, much rounder and hard hard hard!  Although I feel enormo I am still on the small side for weight gain  at this point in time.  My belly button is clinging on for dear life..I'm hoping I am one of those people who manage to have just a little flat one, seems like a fat chance!  My students have gotten quite used to being in charge of watching each other and not answering the door during my many bathroom breaks I take daily.
my view in the car when I look down :)
We got to go for our 3d ultrasound last Friday and we were so so excited to see you little girl...but you were STUBBORN!  You stayed hugging my right side, just like you always do.  You would NOT take your hands and feet out of your mouth.  We got many shots of you sucking your thumb and trying to put your toes in your mouth. And although the tech seemed a little frustrated trying to get good pictures of your face, we still thoroughly enjoyed watching you do your thing in there.  We came home and opened my baby book to see if you looked like my day old pictures and what do you know, we look like twins!  Daddy said I lit up like a Christmas light finding out that you look like me.  Truth be told, daddy is pretty cute himself, but built like a football player.  We were just glad to know you looked like a dainty little lady and not a big softball player ;) hehe.

I also managed to get your daddy into the baby store this past weekend.  He hates to shop and getting him in there is quite the chore.  We have only been twice before and both times he spent a lot of time "testing out" gliding chairs ;)  BUT this time we went on a mission.  We went just to look at carseats and managed to steal a deal and actually bought it!    It is already in mommys car, ready for your arrival.  It is so surreal to look back there and see that thing in my backseat!  eeeek!

And a little side by side comparison 20, 24 and 27 weeks.

24 weeks

Today is: January 12, 2013

How far along: 24 weeks and 3 days pregnant

Total weight gain: 10 lbs

Baby is the size of: a cantaloupe! Just over a pound :)

What's going on with the babe: Supposedly she is still lean now, but will start to plump up in the next couple of weeks.  Her lungs and taste buds are still forming and her brain is growing :)

What's going on with the mama: Supposedly my uterus is just above my belly button now and the size of a soccer ball.  That would explain this ginnormo belly!

Baby is a: Girl

Maternity clothing: Its that time!  I am breaking down and getting some jeans this week.

Sleep: Up 3 to 4 times a night for bathroom breaks, and tossing and turning all night inbetween.

Movement: Yes, but less than last week.  I think she has moved and my uterus is cushioning her kicks.

Food cravings/aversions: Big cravings for guacamole.  Also, I was a complete animal around fresh fruit this week.

Symptoms: Getting up and down off the floor alll day with the kids at work is getting harder and harder.  Lower back and legs are tired by 3:00.  Other than that, feeling fantastic :)

The best moment(s) of this past week: Daddy finally felt you kick, 3 times in a row!
Watching you make my belly completely lopsided for the first time.  So funny!
Picking up some baby gear for nana's house.

I'm looking forward to: 3d ultrasound sometime in the next couple weeks.
Spring break (is it too soon for that???)

Our week wasn't tooo crazy.   We started back from our two week winter vacation and that was hard!!  Here is a little snippet of our week according to the camera roll.  Monday we celebrated Alabama's national championship!  We scored some baby gear for nana to keep at her house and sissy tested it out ;)  Daddy bought his first toy for baby girl...a stuffed animal that looks just like Lilly.  He also cooked dinner twice this week and breakfast this morning.  We are lucky girls to have him in our life :)

Holidays

Christmas is now over :(  So sad.  I just love Christmas, it is my absolute favorite holiday and time of the year.  We were so fortunate to be able to spend it with the whole family this year.  Everyone managed to be able to get off of work to celebrate as one big happy family & that made my heart oh so happy.
We traveled to Alabama to spend it in Gulf Shores at my grandparents house.  It really just doesn't feel like Christmas if it isn't at Honey's house.  It was such a happy time.  We spent most of the time just relaxing, lounging around, watching t.v, eating good food and just plain enjoying quality family time.  It felt so good and I just soaked it up like a sponge.
Baby girl even scored herself some good loot for Christmas this year!
Her very own Alabama cheerleader outfit.
I absolutely cannot wait to see her in all her cuteness in this come football season!
New Years was pretty uneventful for us this year.  Steve & I are just really aren't New Years people I guess.  We aren't big partiers..and although we do enjoy a nice adult beverage here and there...we don't drink that much either.  I guess the two combined just make for two boring people on New Year's Eve.  We spent the night in our pj's and even went to bed 30 minutes before the ball dropped.  Womp womp.
All through the holidays though we kept catching ourselves saying..."This will be our last Christmas the two of us." "This will be our last time to Gulf Shores alone."  "This will be our last year, a family of two."  But I'm pretty darn sure this year will be the best year.  I am absolutely sure of it :)

23 weeks

Here we are at 23 weeks.  6 months :)  You are actually bouncing around in my belly as I am writing this.  Jumping on my bladder actually.  But that's ok..I love your sweet movements.
Nana felt you last night for the very first time and it was oh so exciting!
We actually don't know if her name will stay nana.  She is currently trying to come up with something much for unique and clever for herself.  So only time will tell if she will end up nana or something else ;)
Anyways your nana...she loves you oh so much.  Sometimes I think just as much as I do even though it is hard to imagine that that is even possible.  She rubs my belly and talks to you almost everyday.  I can't help but laugh at how silly she looks but she is just so darn focused on you knowing her voice when you make your way into the world.
I often try to get people to feel you moving around in there.  You are getting so strong and sometimes it just feels like you are going wild in there.  But, it never fails as soon as someone else puts their hand on my tummy you dissappear.  But last night you decided to show yourself and nana felt you for the very first time. & it was such a happy night :)

How far along: 23 weeks

Total weight gain: 8 pounds

Baby is the size of: ahh finally you are 1 pound! eeks!

What's going on with the babe:  Says that you are becoming familiar with sounds that you hear all the time and that when you are hear in the world, those sounds probably won't startle you. Makes me giggle thinking about what you think when you hear your little fur sister barking.

What's going on with the mama: I feel great!  So incredibly happy.  My belly seems to be growing like a weed and my belly button is getting shallower by the day ;)

Baby is a: A sweet baby girl.

Maternity clothing: Mostly no.  I have two pair of maternity leggings that I loove to live in.  But I am still buttoning my pre-preggo jeans, although maternity jeans have been calling my name lately.  Might cave soon.

Sleep: It is pretty good...still wake up two times a night for that nightly bathroom call.
Movement: Too soon.

Food cravings/aversions: Not really.  Really tried to kick up the working out and healthy eating this week since getting back from vacation.

- Finding out that our offer was accepted on a house this week.  Hopefully everything works out
and we will have a new home in February.  Fingers crossed!

I'm looking forward to:
- enjoying my last 3 days of winter break.

Week 20-Half way there!

Say whaaat?!?! Half way there already! Holy moly!

I honestly can't believe this whole thing is half way over.  It's really kind of bittersweet.  I dreamed of being pregnant for what seems like foreverrrrrr.  & while I can't wait to meet our little girl, hold her, smell her, tell her how much mommy and daddy love her...I can't help but want to savor this amazing experience.  Steve and I talk about it quite frequently.  What a miracle this whole being pregnant is.  It really is such a gift and we are soooo soooo thankful that God chose us.  It has brought us closer to God and strengthened our relationship with him, that is for sure.

Well onto more about week 20.
This is the week you really made mommy's belly pop out.  & I LOVE it.  This is the little round belly I always pictured in my head and I am totally embracing it.  I can't help but stop every time I pass the mirror and think wow.  This is it, it is really happening.  So surreal.
You are also really moving around in there. & although I am the only one who can feel you right now...I am really enjoying it.  Such a reassurance to know that you are in there and growing like a weed. Keep growing sweet baby girl.  Mommy and daddy can't wait to meet you.

Week 16

Where do I begin?? I feel like I say it all the time but time really is flying by!  I originally had big plans to make sure that I took a weekly bump picture next to my chalkboard.  The chalkboard that I made my dear husband by all the supplies and make the very day after I found out I was pregnant.  Keeping up with that is pretty much turning into an epic fail!  I don't know what it is...but after work it seems like I can't find the energy to draw a pretty picture on that darn thing and touch up my make up for a quick simple picture.  But it's a new year and my new years resolution was to keep on top of this little family blog of mine.  It is important to me.  Memories are everything to me and I am one of those people that wants to bottle up all the ones I have and keep them forever.  I just know I would hate myself for not following through with documenting this exciting time in our life.

With that being said...weekly chalkboard bump updates from here on out.  So let's go back in time shall we....

Week 15 was our big gender reveal!!!  All who know me know that I am pretty much the most impatient person on this earth!  Bad quality I know, but I just can't help it. So from the second I found out I was pregnant there were just two things I absolutely could not wait for.  #1 to get past those scary first three months safely and #2 find out if our little nugget was a boy or a girl.

So when the doctor told me that I would have to wait until 20 weeks to find out the sex of the baby...I knew there was just no way that was going to happen.  I immediately set out to research this!  Where did I turn to?  Google of course!  The answer to everything!  Come to find out you can find out the sex of your baby at 15 weeks for just a mere $59.  Totally worth it..no question!  So I scheduled ours for the next week.

It honestly felt like Christmas morning and I was about to open the biggest gift EVER!!! We set out to the appointment.  Steve, my mom and brother accompanied me for the big reveal.

It didn't take long for this little baby to show us the goods...and the tech said instantly "no questions about it...that's a girl shot!"  & in that very instant my heart did somersaults!  I like to say that I feel like that part in the Grinch where his heart grows to 3 times the size...Steve always likes to quote me on that and make fun of me for saying that.  But, it's the truth.  In that very moment my heart grew 3x the size.

Since the day I found out I was pregnant I just knewin my heart it was a little girl. Honestly, if we must be truthful...I never really pictured it any other way. I mean my pinterest board was all girl stuff...it was just a known thing to me I guess. I was going to have a girl. Now I know a lot of people whose motherly intuition proved to be wrong..but I just felt it. My whole life I pictured myself a mom of a little girl. & now I am. I have a daughter and that my friends makes me tear up instantly.

Here is how we shared the wonderful news with friends and family...

14 weeks! & Halloween

We are officially out of the first trimester folks!!!  That in itself is a fantastic feeling.  I am the worlds biggest worry wort..and although I am way less worried now, I am still going to be worrying...just can't help it!
This week was not the best...I mananged to get through 14 weeks of pregancy symptom free.  Then BOOM!  I got the stomach flu..I imagine from those germy rugrats at school.  I was darn proud that I hadn't thrown up in 6 years...& as much as a I tried to fight it..It was a battle I lost for three days!
I ended up having to go to the ER to get an iv of fluids and get re-hydrated.  Much better now though, thank goodness.  I am down to my pre-pregnancy weight even a week later...but it appears this has only made my bump look larger! haha.  Oh well, lets me know that that little nugget is growing in there...and THAT makes my heart happy!
Today is: October 31st. Happy Halloweeeeen!

How far along: 14 weeks

Total weight gain: - 2 lbs.  nasty flu!

Baby is the size of: A lemon

What's going on with the babe:
Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, and (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over the body for warmth.

What's going on with the mama: Spent the past 5 days on the couch..and the toilet for that matter.

Baby is a: Boy or a girl. Will be finding out next week! Eek

Maternity clothing: Not yet.  Jeans still fit, but dress pants..not so much.
Getting ready for work has proven to be quite the challenge each morning & my room looking a tornado went through it afterwards is proof of that!

Sleep: Same ol' same ol'

Movement: Not yet, but I can't wait!

Cravings/Aversions: Cravings this week consisted of everything under the sun since I did note eat for days.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching family members down subs and sushi in front of me while I ate crackers. NOT!

Symptoms:
- Still a little fatigued at times.  Nothing an afternoon nap can't help ;)

The best moment(s) of this past week:
- Going to my OB appointment this week and hearing out little babes heart beat at a strong 170!
Glad to know little nugget is getting everything it needs despite my major lack of intake.

I'm looking forward to:
- Our gender ultrasound Tuesday the 9th!!
-
